The Avianca LifeMiles credit card is a great way to quickly rack up miles with a stellar reward program which give you access to the most lucrative airline alliance.
There are two card options:
The Vida card has a lower annual fee of $59 and offers a sign up bonus of 40,000 miles after spending $1000 in 3 months.
The Vuela card has a higher annual fee of $149, but offers a larger bonus of 60,000 miles after spending $1000 in 3 months. ( Enter the promotional code SB4060 when completing your application in order to receive the additional 20,000 welcome bonus miles with your Avianca LifeMiles credit card after your qualifying purchases.)
Both cards offer a 15% discount on purchased miles and 1 mile per dollar spent on any purchase. The Vida card offers 2x miles on Avianca purchases, while the Vuela card offers 3x. The Veula card also offers additional perks such as; no foreign transaction fees, one free checked bag on Avianca flights between the US and Central America, and up to two 50% off mileage award coupons after spending $12,000 and $24,000 on the card.
Avianca LifeMiles© cardholders have the opportunity to earn up to 60,000 LifeMiles after $1000 of purchases with the card. This is a rather generous sign-up bonus for spending so little. Even better, the Avianca LifeMiles© card offers an impressively-long 0% introductory APR period of 12 months on purchases and balance transfers.
Other than the sign-up bonus, rewards are pretty easy to earn with this card. You can earn additional LifeMiles by transferring from many different loyalty programs such as: Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One, Citi Thank You Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy. Additionally, LifeMiles has regular sales and promos throughout the year which allow you to purchase discounted miles at rates as low at $.014 per mile.
All things considered, Avianca LifeMiles© offers great mileage opportunities for a card that provides access to a terrific loyalty program and all of the Star Alliance carriers. Here’s a bit more information about this credit card opportunity.
One immediate perk of the Avianca LifeMiles credit card is that you don’t need excellent credit to be approved. This could be the perfect credit card opportunity for someone looking to rebuild their score and earn cash back at the same time.
Once approved, new Avianca LifeMiles cardholders may earn up to 60,000 LifeMiles after spending $1000. Consider applying when you know you have a larger purchase ahead of you. In addition, new users will have 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for 12 months. After the introductory period, Avianca LifeMiles cardholders can anticipate ongoing variable APR of 15.99% to 25.99%.
Other than the sign-up bonus, Avianca LifeMiles users can get a 15% discount on purchased miles and 1 mile per dollar spent on any purchase.
One major advantage of the Avianca LifeMiles card is that there is no minimum purchase requirement to receive the sign up bonus. The annual fee is reasonable given the bonus and additional perks of the card.
The Avianca LifeMiles loyalty program is one the most undervalued mileage program out there, given its flexibility and pricing structure. With access to all Star Alliance reward space, you will typically be able to find award flights to your desired destination. The online booking portal is recently revamped and fairly user friendly. Additionally, you can book one-way rewards at half the mileage, you can purchase additional miles at a reasonable rate if you do not have enough to cover your trip, and you do not have to pay costly taxes and surcharges on awards.
Like any credit card, Avianca LifeMiles isn’t perfect. Here are a few reasons why you may want to look for something else in a credit card.
Avianca LifeMiles Vida card charges a 3% foreign transaction fee. This fee can start to add up if you’re planning multiple trips abroad. If you like the idea of cash back rewards without an annual fee, consider the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card. This credit card doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee or an annual fee. New cardholders can earn a sign-up bonus of $150 after spending $500 on purchases within the first 90 days the account is open. What’s more, the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card offers a flat 1.5% cash back on all purchases, making earning rewards easy and thoughtless.
If you aren’t a fan of airline miles or annual fees and you still want to rake in cash back, consider the Citi Double Cash Card. With this credit card, users earn a total of 2% cash back on all purchases. You’ll earn 1% cash back when you make a purchase and 1% cash back when you pay it off. This card doesn’t limit the amount of cash back you can earn, either. Keep in mind, the Citi Double Cash Card doesn’t offer a sign-up bonus or introductory 0% APR period on purchases.
If you want more freedom concerning rotating bonus categories, you may want to look into the U.S. Bank Cash+ Visa Signature Card. This credit card offers the same 5% cash back, but more. The 5% cash back is on two bonus categories, and you can pick your categories from a list that changes each quarter. This spending cap is a bit more generous at $2,000 each quarter rather than the $1,500 cap with Avianca LifeMiles. The U.S. Bank Cash+ Visa Signature Card also lets cardholders choose an additional category for unlimited 2% cash back, and 1% cash back is awarded on all other purchases. New members may earn a $150 sign-up bonus after spending $500 on purchases in the first three months the account is open.
If you’re interested in racking up airline miles quickly with lots of access and flexibility, you’ve got little to lose when it comes to the Avianca LifeMiles credit card. LifeMiles provides access to tons of airline carriers at reasonable rates. We recommend signing up for the Vuela card to maximize your earning potential and take advantage of the higher sign up bonus
